Qualified candidates must possess the following:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Minimum of 5 years of family law practice experience
Good standing member of the Louisiana Bar Association

The 16th Judicial District Court has original jurisdiction of all civil and criminal matters in Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary Parishes. There are eight elected judges. Presently two judges are elected from Section One (Divisions G & H) and six judges are elected from Section Two (Divisions A-F).
